Happy Mabon! The last quarter of September is held in the zesty, cerebral, value driven season of Libra as we celebrate the day the marks equal light and night. No wonder this astrological season is so concerned with balance!
We start off the height of autumn with a Sagittarius moon in Waxing Crescent. This is the moment we have for the rest of this cycle to set our intentions and get clear on what it is we want to be working on. Sagittarius can be a blessing and a curse here, knowing we have what we need to take aim but also wanting to stop and explore everywhere on the way. Giving ourselves space to explore and letting go of timelines that serve stress more than productivity can be one of the remedies to this restless energy, but commitment can be too. I think the gift of Libra season is seeing all the ways there are to do something and being able to cultivate the skill of choosing what is best for us in each moment.
Lets side bar and dive into Libra energy for a hot second. Its an air sign, and when we think of air we can think about how it doesn’t need a place to be, it fill all the spaces in between. It is associated with our cerebral energy which can be (over) stimulating. Libra is ruled by Venus, which then brings us into a place of questioning what we value, what we find beautiful, how we build connections and that which we honour in our lives. The most common theme associated with Libra is the scales – how do we find balance? Often this means exploring the extremes, but eventually we need to find a place we are comfortable. Finding balance is not about finding stillness. Creating balance is finding that conjuncture between movement and being. I often think of it as a hula hoop rolling across a tightrope and needing the right momentum to keep ourselves moving across without falling vs the standing steady in the middle of a teeter totter finding a way to cease movement at all.
Thursday Capricorn in First Quarter comes out to play with decision making and action taking, Capricorns speciality. Although Libra may find it challenging to figure out what feels good to do, once there is choice its an unstoppable force. Air moves through and around barriers without much thought, like a gust of wind or a warm breeze. We don’t always get to choose the energy that moves through us but we do get to choose how we react to it – when to hold strong, when to bow down, when to sway with it. When we slow down and pay attention to what fills us and moves us in life we get to use our energy to direct that wind in our sails. Every choice is an action, every action is a choice. Here we are asked to glimpse at the long term plans of what we are doing now, how tilling the soil will better prepare us for seeds to come. It sometimes feels easy to push things off until we get a burst of energy to do it all, but really the lesson in balance here is to do less more often. To stray from the extremes of doing and not doing, to let our physical bodies and nervous systems build trust in how we take action in our lives.
“Aquarius is the humanitarian, taking the equilibrium Libra seeks and using it to then find equality. The internal becomes external. These air signs can get really big, really fast. They can expand into the potential of everything but then struggle to find a place to land. A place to start. The material necessities of how to grow. Refinement here is looking at what isn’t the starting point to come closer to what is. Refinement is knowing we don’t have to fill every. Single. Space.”

Saturday Aquarius comes out to play in Waxing Gibbous which is here for the rest of the week. Waxing Gibbous asks us to refine – once we have our path, our plan, and our purpose we need to take away everything that isn’t necessary. I think of this like removing that one spice that can throw off the balance of everything. That one project or plan that creates overwhelm in your mind. Aquarius is the humanitarian, taking the equilibrium Libra seeks and using it to then find equality. Single. Space.
Pisces closes off this Lunar round through the signs on Tuesday, reminding us that feeling is just as important as thinking. How does the work we do for ourselves reflect back to the work we can do in community? What are the different ways we feel? Not with our hearts, minds, or bodies – but with intuition. With knowing. With spirit, divine grace, god, whatever you want to call it. It is the feeling we do that connects us to the unseen. It is the deja vu at the perfect moment. It is the protective guard that allows our truth to be sacred. How can we hone in on these here-but-not-here experiences and connections we feel that allow us to not only refine our actions and ideas, but also where we put our energy.
Some questions I pose to you this week:
- what does it feel like to embody all you wish to be/are? Not mentally, not even emotionally but energetically.
- Are there forms of thinking you’re familiar with that aren’t completely cerebral? Like when you hold crystals in your palms to feel which one you’re more connected to?
- What stops and experiences are important for your growth and understanding? What ones are just for the hell of it? FOMO can be a real motivating force, but isn’t always a productive one. It’s okay to let go of things you don’t truly desire to do.
- What does choosing look like for you? Is it making a real plan for action? Is it letting go of what you aren’t choosing? Is it journalling long and deep about whatever it is?
The energy of this week feels intense, like that very important surveying of the land before building the bridge. We have to get present with the parts of us that aren’t stable – not because they aren’t worthy or need to be eradicated. But because we deserve to honour and utilize all parts of ourselves in a way that does them justice. In a way that serves what they offer instead of what we expect.
If the thinking gets to much, remember to move your body. We have minds in many places.
all my love,
