“Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” (Genesis 3:13, NIV)
Some believe that the genesis of our story as females begin when Eve ate the apple. From there, all of our stories unravel. The way life escaped Pandora’s box. There is something telling about this narrative. How a woman’s awakening into the world, was the awakening of the world. We were once young girls, born into the walls, into the societal constructs built by our ancestors. As women, our narrative asks us to witness our limitations, but our instincts force us to break them.
Eve is a zine publication featuring the work of female artists and writers exhibiting these experiences of building, breaking and building again. Eve is where women face their demons, Eve is where women become vulnerable in the face of society, Eve is where women admit to failure, Eve is where women claim victory, Eve is where women break boundaries, but more importantly, Eve is where women can build a home.”
